Call me utterly nerdy, but I have a major penchant for musicals, and The Sound of Music tops them all!
I was eleven when I first saw the movie, and fell absolutely in love with it from the very start. :) It's now a family tradition to watch it on Thanksgiving.
I love that there were seven children in the von Trapp family, just as their are seven in mine (but the ratio of girls to boys is backwards). There was even a short period of time when I could actually sing Liesl's song I am Sixteen, Going on Seventeen with utter honesty!
It's especially meaningful because in 2007, my family visited Salzburg, Austria, where a great portion of the movie was filmed! We traveled to several key locations where different scenes had been shot, including the back of the beautiful von Trapp home, the church where Maria was married, and the infamous white gazebo.
I am absolutely in love with Liesl's eyes!
Possibly my favorite scene? The whole movie was beautiful and hilarious. You just had to love Maria, sympathize with the children, be mildly reproachful of their father and simply loathe the Baroness!
I desperately want a dress like the blue one Maria often wore throughout the movie! Ahhh, The Sound of Music is such the best!! :)
